The NMRC offers research internships for graduate-level students who are interested in thinking critically about public policy issues. NMRC internships provide students with an opportunity to work with an array of experts performing research on current public policy questions.
Internships are primarily volunteer positions (stipends are offered) and the hours and days are flexible, either part or full time.
NMRC intern tasks vary, but may involve:
- Assist with the production of research, reports and events
- Research a variety of public policy issues, primarily in telecom and technology fields
- Contribute to the writing and editing process for research papers, reports and promotional materials
- Assist with coordination and planning of NMRC and jointly sponsored events
- Monitor and report on a wide range of news and trade publications
- Contribute to NMRC E-zines
- Regularly update NMRC website
- Outreach to scholars, experts and academics
- Maintain and expand NMRC scholar database
- Assist with other tasks/projects as needed
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
- Knowledge of public affairs/government relations/media relations
- Proven research and analytical skills
- Strong writing and editing abilities
- Knowledge of telecommunications and high tech issues, preferred
- Experience working with think tanks a plus, but not required
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
