Agenda and Speaker Presentations

Which is worse, that WorldCom went into bankruptcy or that it might come out?

Telecommunications industry analysts and players alike have raised the issue that WorldCom's bankruptcy is going to create an unfair, strategic advantage for the emerged reorganized entity. Is this true? If so, does it matter? Should bankruptcy courts be concerned with these issues and what will be the impact on the telecommunications industry? In a depressed telecommunications industry, will the WorldCom bankruptcy set a dangerous precedent for other troubled firms to follow?

In an effort to examine and develop policy recommendations for these issues, the New Millennium Research Council (NMRC) will host a panel discussion featuring telecommunications CEOs, analysts and bankruptcy experts including:

  • David E. Lynn: Principal at the law firm of Docter, Docter & Lynn

  • Shing Yin: Senior Analyst with the telecommunications consulting firm, RHK, Inc. PowerPoint presentation [use Save As to download]

  • Janice Aune: President and CEO, Onvoy, Inc., a leading Minnesota telecommunications provider. PowerPoint presentation [use Save As to download]

  • Todd J. Zywicki, Associate Professor of Law specializing in bankruptcy and contracts at George Mason University

Please join us as the NMRC panelists present various perspectives on this topic of critical importance to the telecommunications industry.

The event is free of charge and breakfast will be served.

For more information contact Joshua Rosenberg by email: joshua@newmillenniumresearch.org or by phone: (202) 263-2940.

The New Millennium Research Council (NMRC) was created in 1999 to develop workable, real-world solutions to the issues and challenges confronting policy makers.
